Gardening is a great hobby. It allows people to unwind and get some time on their own, whilst being surrounded by nature. In some cases, it may be the only way in which certain people can get their exercise. Growing your own plants and flowers can leave you feeling proud of your accomplishments.

Plants and flowers need water, light and nutrients to grow. Some of us are fortunate enough to have sunshine all year round. On the other side, some people may get as little as 2 or 3 months’ worth of sunshine throughout the whole year. This is not good news to those who wish to grow their own plants and flowers since they will not be able to grow.

However, this does not mean that you have to give up your dreams of having beautiful flowers in your backyard.  You may still be able to grow your exotic plants if you have a greenhouse.

Greenhouses can be purchased from department stores, gardening centres and even online. Greenhouses can be found in many shapes and sizes, meaning that you can buy the perfect greenhouse for your garden. However, these can be quite expensive. This may prevent you from purchasing one, especially if financing is an issue.
Nonetheless, this does not mean that you cannot have your own greenhouse. You have the option of building your very own greenhouse. It is really not as hard as it seems, and as long as you have a few basic tools, you should be able to do it with great ease.

This article is going to provide you with step by step instructions on how you can build your very own greenhouse.
Planning is the key to everything, so before actually starting anything, sit down and plan your build. You need to decide on materials that you should use, and how the properties your greenhouse should have.

If you live in a cold area, your greenhouse needs to be insulated so that your plants will get all the warmth that they require. However, if you live in a country where it is warm during most of the year, you will need a greenhouse which is shaded. This is to stop the greenhouse from becoming too hot.

This will provide you with the perfect location for your greenhouse. The key is to locate your greenhouse in a place where sunlight is direct yet there is a decent amount of shade. So for example, a corner where the greenhouse is exposed to sunlight for half of the day, and then to the shade.

You need to think about the various mechanisms that your greenhouse will need to have installed. These include mechanisms to get rid of pests and other unwanted creatures and mechanisms which are going to promote air circulation. You may even want to install mechanisms which are responsible for controlling humidity.

Now you can start building. Remember that every building needs a foundation. Most foundations are made using concrete, but you can easily use a substitute.

Greenhouses need walls and ceilings. These should be made out of specialised plastic sheets or fibreglass.

If you are going to be spending a lot of time in your greenhouse, you may wish to have a little deck chair or a bench in the greenhouse, where you can relax and watch your beautiful flowers.

If you find yourself struggling during the build, always ask for help. You can even hire a professional who will come and build the greenhouse for you, so there is nothing that can come in the way of you and your perfect greenhouse.
