Decorating your home with flowers is a simple, but beautiful way to bring something fresh and new into the usual home décor. A bunch of fresh flowers can brighten any home or office. Here are some of the ways to decorate the rooms in your home like a professional.

Entranceway/Foyer

Don’t overlook this area, as this is what people first see when they enter your home. One of the ways to brighten up this area is by attaching small vases full of short stems of flowers, a wreath or a basket hanging. Look for natural materials to use before you choose the flowers. Since the foyer is usually much darker than the rest of the house, it is best to choose flowers that don’t need much light. If you want to make a big impression, create a large and abundant decoration and put it on a shelf. If you want to create a focal point in the foyer, put a piece of artwork on a shelf or pedestal and add some flowers.

Dining Room

The dining room should be kept simple and neat, so choose flowers that make you feel happy and relaxed. You can set and elegant arrangement on the table with a crystal vase or a big crystal bowl with flowers inside. Add more greenery to make the look natural. You can use individual flowers when you have guests for dinner – attach a name card to the freshly-cut flower and put it on the plate. You can also use candles to arrange the dining room’s table. They pair really well with flowers. Here are some of the types of flowers you can use for the dining room: spray roses, daisies, lilies, alstroemerias, carnations or chrysanthemums.

Living Room

The biggest and most important room in every home, the living room, is where the family gathers and where we invite our guests. Use your favourite vase and place it where it will create a nice focal point. You can put a few gerbera daisies or gardenias. If you are using a bowl, put inside a couple of floating candles and light them in the evening. The glowing effect is dazzling. If you have a fireplace in the living room, you can arrange it with some seasonal flowers.

Kitchen

It’s best to keep the flowers away from the area where you cook, so you can place plants on the windowsill. Try primroses, African violets or kalanchoe, statice, asters, freesia, stock or delphinium.

Bedroom

You can arrange some flowers in a way that they will make you feel calm and relaxed in this room. Avoid strongly fragrant flowers which might bother your sleep. Try a vase full of peonies, lilies, freesias or lilacs. Put it on your nightstand or on a shelf.

Home Office

Don’t forget to relax from time to time – give yourself a little break by keeping a pot full of greenery and a few blooms.

Remember that you can buy flowers in bulk from wholesalers and this way you can afford to adorn your house often. Keeping your flowers alive is possible, as long as you change their water regularly, keep them away from direct sunlight and trim their stems with a sharp knife. You can also use plant food in the vase.
